Sonoma State University students, faculty, and staff have joined over 1,400 colleges in a national movement with the intention to move SSU, Sonoma County, California and America, beyond fatalism to a determination to face up to this civilizational challenge, the challenge of our generation.
Focus the Nation is organizing a national teach-in on global warming solutions for America—creating a dialogueat colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses; directly engaging millions of students and citizens with the nation’s decision-makers.
Our hope is to directly engage over a thousand community members and students from the university, Santa Rosa Junior College, and local high schools from the Sonoma and Marin area. The intent is to co-create solutions that will have tangible results in the region, state and nation. We will be inviting local, state and federal elected officials to participate and share in the creation of Solutions for our Future.
The Sonoma State Sustainability Coalition, Geography Department and Redwood Chapter of the Sierra Club are the amazing rockstar sponsors of this historic event. Special thanks go out to Dorothy Freidel and her entire class for initiating this event.
